1) Overview

There are a few different ways to locate the correct WIC Item Number (also referred to as the UPC or "bar-code" value). Regardless of which method you use, you should always exclude the check-digit number located on the far-right  before entering this information on your  MobiWIC website . Once you have correctly captured the WIC Item Number, you will then need to enter that number on your MobiWIC website and synchronize your MobiWIC terminal to apply the changes.

Correctly capturing and entering correct UPC values for your WIC Items is critical in being able to successfully sell them in your MobiWIC device. Please see below for information on how to correctly retrieve and store this information from each source.

To capture a UPC value while viewing a physical WIC Item label, capture all visible digits reading from left to right. You will EXCLUDE the check-digit on the far right; do not include this number. In the example image below, you would record the numbers in green and exclude the check-digit in red.

The correct WIC Item number for this example is; "81120401234"

6) Beech-Nut and other unique bar-codes

Some products, such as Beech-Nut items are unique in that they have an abbreviated or "compressed" bar-code. The numerical value visible on the UPC label is different than that of the UPC value when these products are scanned with a bar-code scanner. You will not be able to capture the correct UPC value by viewing the number on the physical bar-code label for these UPC types (see Example below).

WIC Item numbers for these products can be located by viewing the OH Approved Product List (APL; also referred to as "WIC UPC/PLU Report").  You will need to access your OH WIC APL to locate the correct WIC Item numbers, and conduct a search for the specific name of the item you are attempting to locate; such as "Corn Flakes", "Beechnut", or "Stage 2" etc. You will then be able to locate and record the correct Item Number.

When capturing an Item Number from the Ohio WIC APL, you will EXCLUDE the leading 0's and the check-digit on the far right; do not include these numbers. In the example image below, you would record the numbers in green and exclude the numbers in red.
